PURPOSE The Senior Manager, Systems Engineering is fully accountable for the operation of the company's systems. This includes ownership of availability, response time, and other operational metrics as well as upgrading and maintaining the operational environment, associated infrastructure, and technology stack from the datacenter / cloud facility up through the operating system. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee technology operations (e.g. datacenter operations, cloud and service vendor management, network security) and evaluate them according to established goals Help develop an operational roadmap for all company systems and execute against it Devise and establish IT policies and systems, including DevOps, to support the ongoing maintenance and operation of company systems Analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine operational requirements Inspect the use of IT equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency Identify the need for upgrades, patches, configurations, or new systems; inform management. Stay abreast of new technologies and practices and introduce as appropriate Ensure maintenance of hardware and software inventory and maintain support contracts and policies Ensure security compliance in accordance with Worldwide Express standards, policies, and procedures. Stay abreast of new security requirements and industry practices and update policies accordingly Maintain systems infrastructure and technology stack from facilities up through operating system, including security patches Build strong relationships with development, QA and other technology partners Create and manage documentation across departments and teams Coordinates work and services with other Tech departments, contract service providers, and vendors Provides consistent leadership to each individual team member; sets objectives; reviews performance, produces career development plans, and addresses concerns REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Understanding of the industry, specific WWEX business model, and unique characteristics of the Company Significant leadership experience in the logistics industry or adjacent industries applicable to WWEX Demonstrable leadership experience in the logistics industry or adjacent industries applicable to WWEX Experience leading teams through large operational upgrades, datacenter moves, product launches and cloud migrations Infrastructure components and related hardware and software DevOps practices/automation Building collaborative relationships Change management. Release management, Problem management, Incident management.
