As a Senior Manager, Software Engineering at Indeed you will provide hands-on leadership of a team of highly skilled engineers focused on growth and monetization for Indeed's portfolio of world-class hiring products. Every day we help employers around the world post jobs, find the best candidates, and interview potential hires leveraging our powerful hiring platform. Our team works on many of the highest impact strategic initiatives at the company's marketplace for employers and job seekers.
As part of the SMB Monetization engineering team you will lead development of highly scalable core platform services and compelling user experiences for Indeed's flagship products targeted towards the wide range of SMB employers. Your team will deliver critical components to support revenue generation across Indeed, job sponsorship, campaign management, and employer budget analytics and optimization. You will leverage the latest cloud platform technologies on AWS to make sure your services are highly available, modern machine learning algorithms to help deliver the best pricing models to our customers, and innovative experimentation platforms to maximize results.
As a people manager you are comfortable learning new things on the fly and helping your team learn unfamiliar systems and technologies. You make pragmatic technology decisions to balance scalability, speed to market, and long-term maintainability. You are data-driven and comfortable with agile development practices, rapid development cadences, and continuous deployment methodologies to deliver quick incremental value to customers. You understand that the best managers serve their teams, removing roadblocks and giving individual contributors autonomy and ownership. You can effectively partner with product management, technical leads, and stakeholders across the company to shape product strategy and deliver impactful solutions.
Who You Are
Requirements:
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent field preferred.
4+ years management experience with a track record of delivering web scale software solutions.
5+ years in hands-on software development in highly scalable distributed systems.
Fluency in Java or other modern programming languages with strength in design patterns and OO design.
Highly collaborative, able to work across disciplines effectively with product management, user experience, and operations teams.
Proficient in communicating and championing technical ideas with all levels of the organization, including executives.
Proven ability to coach engineers, helping them improve their skills and grow their careers.
Passion and experience building highly skilled, diverse, and inclusive engineering teams.
Knowledge of cloud platforms, databases (SQL/NoSQL) and experience with service-oriented and event-driven system architectures.
Experience shaping engineering culture with a focus on quality and end to end ownership.
Experience with agile development processes and deep understanding of effective engineering practices for the full software development life cycle.
