Job Overview

Molecular Templates, Inc. (MTEM) is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery and development of biologic therapeutics for the treatment of cancer and other serious diseases. The company primarily develops a pipeline of therapies through its proprietary biologic engineered toxin body (ETB) drug platform with unique mechanisms of actions which are highly differentiated from antibody drug conjugates (ADCs). MTEM is developing MT-6402, which is in a Phase I clinical trial for PD-1/PD-L1 antibody relapsed/refractory patients; MT-5111, which is in a Phase I clinical trial for the treatment of HER2-positive cancers; and MT-0169, which is in a Phase I clinical trial to treat relapsed/refractory myeloma. Position Overview:

The Sr. Manager, F&E leads the functions responsible for maintenance & calibration, process engineering & automation, and environmental health, safety & security. This role will be responsible for the internal team functions as well as the coordination of external suppliers supporting the organization. This position will continue to build and develop MTEM's facilities and engineering function to enable its growing portfolio of clinical stage molecules. The Sr. Manager, Facilities and Engineering will be responsible for developing people, processes, equipment, and facilities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan and direct all aspects of F&E activities and projects to enable organizational compliance and decision making.
  • Utilize Good Engineering Practices (GEP) and provide technical oversight and guidance for MTEM facilities and process control.
  • Direct the user requirements, design process, and qualification activities for facility and equipment.
  • Oversight of equipment and system lifecycle (CMMS).
  • Provide leadership and organization for a safety and security-first culture.
  • Communicate and promote Key Performance Indicators within the Technical Operations function and across organizational functions to predict and perform
  • Implement methods/systems/tools to analyze performance of process and facilities equipment
  • Initiate/lead improvement events, using lean tools, that reduce waste, improve quality, and enhance performance.
  • Provide models, forecasting, options, and analytics for decision-making purposes.
  • Ensuring availability of facility and equipment for internal customers and stakeholders.
  • Help build supplier partnerships; promote and maintain healthy relationships with suppliers.
  • Ensure personnel safety, appropriate storage and compliance with safety and environmental requirements.
  • Develop and inform the budget process and its achievement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline, required; graduate degree in engineering discipline or MBA, preferred.
  • Minimum eight (8) years' leading F&E functions in the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Thorough understanding of F&E systems in a cGMP environment including, but not limited to, maintenance work orders, calibration, and lifecycle management, EHS, process engineering, automation, and change control.
  • Strong knowledge of biologics manufacturing equipment and utilities systems, including but not limited to HVAC, WFI, pure steam, clean compressed air, process gases, chilled water, boilers, and wastewater treatment.
  • Agile business leader that can navigate the organization and align cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated performance in building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrate a broad understanding of clinical and commercial biopharmaceutical operations
  • Possess strength working with Building Management Systems, equipment automation & controls.
  • Experience and/or certification in Six Sigma or LEAN principles.
  • Knowledgeable on project management principles.
