This position is in Blue Origin's exciting New Shepard program - we are flying people to space! As a member of the New Shepard Avionics team, you will lead and manage our dedicated Electrical Engineering design group. This team is responsible for design, test, integration, and maintenance of all vehicle avionics systems, including flight computers, RF communications, vehicle controls, navigation instrumentation, power systems, astronaut audio and video, data acquisition, and more. You will coordinate project assignments and work with team leads and project managers to prioritize design, Analysis, test, and mission support tasks. While this is a management role, it also requires, and provides the opportunity for, significant technical mentorship and oversight. The Avionics Electrical team has a wide set of responsibilities for on-vehicle components and sub-system, and their work includes initial requirement's definition, analysis, design, test, and production release. They follow avionics designs through formal verification, environmental qualification, and release, in addition to providing participate mission/launch support. As team leader, you will own the technical quality of your team's work, including the standards, processes, and tools for avionics electronics design. You will also be responsible for the growth and development of the EE team, including performance management, training, career development, hiring, and mentoring. Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent 10+ years of proven industry experience in electronics development, integration, and test Experience with, and understanding of, safety-critical systems development (aerospace, medical, automotive) 3+ years of experience as a direct personnel manager of a team of at least 5 design engineers Direct hands-on experience with analog, digital and mixed-signal circuit analysis, simulation, design, test, debug, signal integrity, power, grounding, and general board layout principles Design, sustaining, or management experience with large, sophisticated, integrated, electrical systems involving various subcomponents (e.g. computers, IO, data acquisition, controls, DC power and power switching, RF) Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Interest in hands-on problem solving, with a passion for spacecraft systems Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to our inclusive culture Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
