Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Senior Engineering Mechanical Technical Specialist to join our team. This position is located in Linthicum, MD. The mechanic will:

Primary Function:
Develop, construct, plan, coordinate, and test mechanically, highly complex electro-mechanical models and/or systems. Analyze and modify drawings on structural information working from general rough outlines and written or oral instructions. Design fixtures and tools as required. Assist engineering personnel in resolving complex problems associated with the fabrication and assembly of systems.
Working Procedure:
Develop, determine, plan, and coordinate various operations necessary to produce highly complex electro-mechanical models and/or systems complete, requiring a general overall knowledge of all machining, numerical control machining, fabricating, wiring, and associated shop equipment. Develop engineering ideas and experimental concepts into a working model utilizing rough sketches, verbal instructions and very general directions from design engineers. Procure parts and tools for development of highly complex electro-mechanical models and/or systems.

Coordinate and/or set up all tools and equipment necessary for producing models complete. Perform or direct all precision final assembly using techniques related to the proper alignment, balance and operation of the unit.

Troubleshoot and diagnose any malfunction of design or defective areas of models and/or systems working with design engineers to determine corrective action. Work with design engineers to further develop units, making changes to improve the system and/or models to help eliminate manufacturing and assembly difficulties by using the latest state of the art technology.

Construct experimental and prototype devices and systems working from very general and incomplete information.

Install the models or systems in airborne, ship borne and/or land based vehicles, including necessary modifications to the vehicles, working from drawings, sketches, and verbal information.

Coordinate and provide information, guidance, and direction to lower classified personnel to enable them to perform detailed phases of assigned duties.

Participate in field assignments of a short duration to assist in the installation, modification, repair and maintenance of breadboard and prototype systems, within the U.S.A.

Assume responsibility for the proper mechanical operation of the system and/or model when completed.

Operate remote data terminal equipment to program and produce control tapes for numerically controlled production machinery.

Provide assistance, instruction and coordination in the transfer of knowledge and expertise to effect the smooth transition of production units.

Education Requirements:
High school or equivalent, with a working knowledge of algebra, trigonometry, drafting and physics and two years of college in engineering subjects or demonstrated equivalent experience.

Experience Requirements:
Eight years experience in the development of highly complex and state of the art electro-mechanical models and/or systems with demonstrated working knowledge of assembly and wiring, fabrication and machining
