Your Opportunity Stantec is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Engineer to lead our construction quality assurance (CQA) team on a mine reclamation project in Northern New Mexico. The primary focus of this position is to provide office engineering leadership, quality program direction, quality assurance documentation review, and construction observation as part of a skilled and qualified team. This position will require: A dynamic individual who is driven by innovation and technology-based solutions to transform designs into real world construction for the mining industry. Curiosity and creativity to help contribute to the success of a large, multi-year reclamation project at a large mine. Excellent communication skills to direct the technical aspects of the field team. Ability to travel to Northern New Mexico approximately one week per month to work on an active construction site at an elevation of 10,000 feet above sea level. This position interacts throughout the organization internally and externally with clients and members of business and professional organizations. Your Key Responsibilities Following safe work practices and adhering to company and client guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner. OSHA HAZWOPER training as well as site-specific training will be required. Interacting daily with the client, construction contractor, design engineer, and field staff as they plan and execute reclamation activities. Directing and reviewing Stantec CQA activities including field observations, sample collection, field testing (as required), and daily reports. Reviewing design drawing, specification, request for information (RFIs) and laboratory reports to verify the construction conditions meets the design. Developing and implementing design solutions, as-built construction verification, and other field engineering activities using AutoCAD Civil3D software. Preparing technical memoranda and detailed as-built reports pertaining to the project reclamation construction activities. Presenting at various project meetings that may include the client, the construction contractor and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Qualifications Your Capabilities and Credentials Exceptional technical writing and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, technical leadership abilities, and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and make decisions in the field at remote sites. Dynamic time management to meet project budget and schedule. Willingness to travel. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training certificate is preferred or the ability to obtain after employment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Must have a good driving record and valid Driver's License. Education and Experience Minimum B.S. in engineering (i.e., Civil, Geotechnical, Mining, Environmental). Licensed as a professional engineer in the State of New Mexico or able to obtain within 6 months. 5-10 years of experience working on civil and/or geotechnical engineering projects, focusing on detailed design, site investigation, and technical communication. Preference given to individuals with experience in mine waste/reclamation, survey and competency using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
