The partnership will leverage capability and experience from both companies. Development engineering, construction and commissioning operations will be performed by Equinor Wind Services LLC US. It is staffed by secondees from both Equinor and bp. This role is needed to support these projects in Stamford, CT and/or Brooklyn, NY. The successful candidate may support offshore wind as a home-based employee before deployment to the US East Coast, upon prior agreement, and must be mobile to work in the required area when needed. It is possible that this role will become a secondment onto a bp joint venture. This can be discussed in more detail during the recruitment process. Country: United States of America Location: United States - Connecticut - Stamford, United States - New York - Brooklyn Job Advert: The Senior Electrical Engineer contributes to the safe and efficient engineering design of the Electrical System Infrastructure, responsible for relevant interfaces internally and externally and able to mature the ESI concept via company documentation (design basis, functional specifications, engineering codes and standards, ITT). You will be expected to work across the field of electrical engineering and be knowledgeable of applicable industry standards and practices including: recommendation of technical solutions, appraisal of technology developments, leadership of engineering studies (low carbon agenda), and risk assessments and Management of Change (MoC). This role will be accountable for: + Identify and manage risk within the discipline + Interface management with Transmission System Owner, WTG suppliers, Operations discipline, and ESI work packages contracts + Provide lessons learned both applied to the project and taken from the project + Independently, acting as company responsible engineer, execute and supervise assigned workscopes + Power system concept design + Grid assessment / Grid stability / Grid code compliance + Electrical Transmission voltage selection / loss estimate / optimisation + HVAC and/or HVDC concept selection analysis + Wind Turbine Generator technology (generator / excitation etc.) + Static Synchronous Condenser, Dynamic Synchronous Condenser & Shunt Reactors technology About you You will have a BS or MS in Electrical or relevant discipline (Professional Engineer and/or Chartered Engineer). Experience is what matters. A minimum of 10 years with electrical power systems is required. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience with public electrical grid connections and/or power transmission systems. Experience from the wind industry is preferrable including knowledge of associated codes and standards. Experience and knowledge of HVAC and preferably HVDC transmission systems, control system interface requirements to electrical systems, and power system modelling and protection relay coordination is desirable. It is important you have: + Good working knowledge of industry and regulatory standards for either eastern hemisphere (e.g. IEC) or western hemisphere (e.g. NEMA/ANSI). + Strong leadership skills, ability to influence and drive decisions. + Good communicator, able to technically address with conviction verbally and written across Projects and Operations on technical matters at all levels of the company. + Able to demonstrate pragmatism when balancing technical decisions and operational needs (deliver safe & competitive solutions).
