Summary
As Senior Electrical Engineer, EV, you will function as the EV Project Design Engineer for our Blue Arc EV Solutions division in Plymouth, MI. The work you will accomplish in this role will be instrumental in shaping the future of how electric fleet vehicles are designed, built, and delivered.
Our Blue Arc team launched earlier this year and alongside a trio of initial product offerings - an industry-first commercial-grade purpose-built EV chassis; a fully reimagined from the ground-up all-electric Class 3 delivery walk-in van; and a fully portable, remote-controlled charging station, the Power Cube .
As Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be accountable for managing a variety of R&D pre-production design projects and bills of materials for Blue Arc's new EV product line.

What You'll Be Doing
- Collaborating with other engineers on design and development of BlueArc's power cube product
- Designing and implementing pre-production DC and AC power systems for electric vehicles
- Producing electrical engineering documentation including schematic drawings, harness drawings, design manual content, and operation and troubleshooting guides
- Developing engineering bills of materials that are complete, accurate, and delivered on-time
- Providing broad electrical and mechanical expertise throughout the production of our electric vehicles
- Processing approved engineering change requests and overseeing electrical system testing
- Designing requirements, application reviews, and electrical engineering releases with suppliers
- Developing test requirements and coordinating component and system testing
- Performing analysis of vehicle electrical system testing results
- Identifying and implementing electrical design improvement projects
- Focusing on reducing costs and improving the performance of EVs coming off the line
- Completing complex circuit analysis for electrical systems
- Providing support to production, customer service, and end-user mechanics regarding vehicle electrical systems
- Representing The Shyft Group/BlueArc at industry and technical conferences and forums
- Supporting customers in launching EV vehicles
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Technology, or related
- 4+ years of electrical engineering experience working with power, power cubes, and green energy
- Expertise in Medium Voltage/Low Voltage, microgrid, and energy storage
- Strong CAD experience with an emphasis on 2D AutoCAD and 3D SolidWorks
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and components and parts specifications
- Heavy-duty truck or motor vehicle industry experience
- Strong electrical system troubleshooting and testing skills
- Familiarity with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS)
- Flexibility to travel when necessary to support the growth of BlueArc and represent company
