Position Overview:
Navistar is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer - Electric Vehicle (EV) Wiring and Cable Systems. The Senior Electrical Engineer will take part in the design and development of Electric Vehicle Chassis Wiring and Battery Cable Systems. Role works extensively with 3d design and routing, bracket design, and electrical system designs ranging from 12v to 600v.
Responsibilities:
Directly involved in design release process
Generate ideas through benchmarking, initiate engineering changes for cost reductions, new programs & quality improvement
Work closely with suppliers for Product Development and manage the overall timing
Interface with internal cross-functional teams to resolve any issues as the product(s) move to production
Creation and execution of dFMEAs and DVPs
Creates, reviews and updates standard processes and best practices
Reviews designs for completeness and accuracy
Mentors and guides less-senior employees
Manages people who lead cross-functional teams who are focused on the delivery of a product or service from design to release for customers
Develops, defines and executes project plans, schedules, budgets and deliverables
Identifies needed resources for projects, defines and assigns major project roles
Monitors the product/program/project from initiation through delivery, interfacing with external customers or field-based employees on technical matters as needed
Assigns and monitors work of project/program management staff, providing technical support and direction
Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
At least 2 years of experience in product design/development
OR
Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
OR
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
At least 5 years of experience in product design/development
OR
Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
At least 3 years of experience in product design/development
OR
PhD in Engineering or Engineering Technology
Additional Requirements:
Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills:
Good competency in 3D CAD modeling software (NX or similar)
Basic understanding of Dimensioning & Tolerancing Wire Harnesses 2D Drafting and Design Experience
Experience with dFMEAs and DVPs
Experience developing, defining and executing project plans, schedules, budgets and deliverables
Experience working with suppliers
Strong communication skills, written and verbal
Strong MS Office experience
