Job Overview

Natron is seeking an Electrical Equipment Engineer to support NPI, production and ramp up of its cell, module and tray assembly line. Key process steps include automation of battery pouch modules for high volume manufacturing, ultrasonic or other welding processes, electrical isolation methods, vacuum sealing and electrolyte dispensing, cell bring up, testing and charging. Tenacious commitment to continuous improvement with thoughtful, collaborative, and disciplined execution is a must.


Responsibilities:

  • Engineering lead for design of new equipment or modification of existing equipment to support high volume manufacturing of sodium ion battery pouch modules.
  • Implementation of design changes to support improved cycle time, in-line process control & monitoring improvements throughout product line.
  • Initiate engineering changes to reduce equipment cost for future product line expansion.
  • Technical lead and primary interface with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM).
  • Generate and maintain high quality engineering documentation such as engineering drawings, maintenance procedures, and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) etc.


Experience:

  • 3 or more years demonstrated ability in automation equipment electronics design in a manufacturing support environment.


Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering or associate degree plus 5 years of working experience.


Required Skills:

  • Electrical Engineering skills to support pilot scale manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledgeable on NFPA 70/79 and UL508
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of PLCs, Electronic Enclosures, Industrial Control Panels, AC/DC Power Distribution, Motion Control, Machine Safety Systems
  • Troubleshooting experience supporting PLC controlled production equipment.
  • Proficient knowledge of electro-mechanical design and machine automation.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills to ensure effective participation with interdepartmental teams.
  • Working knowledge of operating principles of production machine components such as pneumatics, circuits, motors, optical measurement or vision systems, temperature controllers and sensors.


Helpful Skills:

  • Experience in automated battery pouch equipment a plus.
  • Fluency in 3d and 2d CAD modeling software a plus (Solidworks and Autocad preferred).


Essential Functions:

  • Support or lead design of new manufacturing and cell testing equipment electronics for the pilot scale manufacturing line.
  • Support or lead creation of project plans, schedules, and budgets for design of new equipment or modification to existing equipment.
  • Conduct design reviews of proposed engineering designs to other technical professionals within the Natron Engineering group and Senior Management.
  • Coordinate facility planning and support installation of new pilot manufacturing equipment.
  • Support upgrade, modification, and troubleshooting of existing manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to interface with global cross functional teams and suppliers.
  • Ensure adherence to all Safety Procedures and Housekeeping standards.
  • Demonstrate creativity via novel ideas adding to Natron's IP portfolio.


Logistics:

  • This is a regular, full-time position.
  • Employees must work on site in Santa Clara.
  • Compensation is competitive with other Bay Area manufacturing equipment engineering positions.
