Job Description Dewberry is seeking a Senior CEI Engineer for the Construction Services group for our North Florida market. The Construction Engineer will act as the client's representative working closely with our clients (FDOT and Municipalities) throughout North Florida. The Senior Construction Engineer will work closely with our clients and train/mentor respective staff to ensure proper contract adherence and inspection requirements are met; attend/conduct project control meetings; document work progress; monitor construction quality and safety; and will work as an extension of our clients. Responsibilities Responsible for construction management/inspection services on bridges, roadways, transit and other transportation and intermodal facilities Prepares, maintains and secures contract records including correspondence, contractor documents, meeting minutes, daily inspection reports, specifications, non-compliance notices, etc. Reviews and modifies drawings, specifications, installation sequences, and progress reports and initiates corrective measures if necessary Reviews construction procedures submitted by contractors to assure conformance with overall project plan. Acts as technical liaison between contractor and design engineering personnel May oversee the work of lower-level construction engineering inspectors who assist on projects Observation and documentation of construction activities and safety procedures performed by others Verification of compliance with construction bid and design documents Preparation of daily, weekly and/or monthly reports Submittal coordination and review of materials of construction, equipment, schedules, installation means and methods and operation and maintenance requirements Review and coordination of requests for information Meeting attendance and participation Resolves field construction issues and provide recommendations Coordination with multiple parties, organizations, and stakeholders including engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and clients Development and review of work plans, design documents, change orders, engineering drawings Cost estimating and contractor pay request reviews Provide Quality Assurance reviews on construction projects to ensure objectives and assignments are conducted in conformance to contract documents. Prepare and/or approve Quality Assurance Reports on field operations which may include findings and recommendations for corrective actions. Required Skills & Required Experience Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management. Minimum 10 years of related experience on highway or bridge projects required. FL Professional Engineer required. Strong knowledge of FDOT specifications and Design Standards, and Florida construction techniques. Experience with FDOT plans, specifications, policies and procedures for roadway construction, materials testing, and documentation required. Must possess strong computer literacy skills, i.e., Microsoft Office, etc. Must be an excellent communicator and possess strong verbal and written communications skills as well as practical construction management capabilities. Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrains Ability to repetitively stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs; includes body weight, equipment, tools and boxes, in addition to ability to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces.
