RK&K is seeking a dedicated and strong Bridge Inspector for Structural construction projects. The right candidate will take part in the following essential functions.

Essential Functions

• Assist a Certified Bridge Inspector or Professional Engineer with inspections
• Help the team leader in the field by gathering and documenting all necessary information and data to compile a comprehensive bridge safety and maintenance inspection report
• Develop, write, review, and submit inspection reports
• Keep inspection vehicle clean and up to date with all maintenance.
• Keep inspection vehicle well stocked with all needed supplies to accomplish a bridge inspection schedule.

The field work requires work in situations that are hazardous in their nature such as live traffic, working on steep slopes, climbing ladders, working in confined areas, and working above water on scaffolds or snooper cranes at considerable heights

Required Education and Experience

• At least five (5) years of road and bridge inspection experience for highway construction methods, materials, standards and specifications.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
• Be able to multi-task in a team environment with short term deadlines
• Exercise initiative and independent judgement in the solution of work problems
• Possess a valid driver's license and be able to operate a motor vehicle
• Be self-motivated to meet individual goals and maintain accountability in a team environment
• Work in an outside environment with exposure to snakes, spiders, insects, and poisonous plants

Preferred Education and Experience

• Successful completion of the NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course
• EIT (Engineer in training) or PE (Professional Engineer)
• Associates degree

Other Requirements

• Valid driver's license and favorable driving record
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Be able to climb ladders and work at heights
• Be able to communicate effectively - verbal and written
• Ability to travel throughout North and South Carolina
• Occasional consecutive overnight stays
