POSITION SUMMARY

The BIM Design & Construction Technology Specialist is responsible for the design of (P&I) projects utilizing Building Information Models (BIM), Revit AutoCAD MEP and other virtual design and construction methodologies. The Specialist will provide design support from initial design through construction and ensure incorporation of required model modifications including quality assurance review of the final model.

ESSENTIAL Duties & Responsibilities

Client Relationships

• Coordinate complex mechanical systems in a virtual environment.
• Attend construction job site coordination meetings to resolve conflicts.
• Communicate recommendations and findings to client and/or management in a well-organized professional manner.

BIM Design & Construction Technology

• Create 3D BIM piping models directly utilized in the construction of plumbing, HVAC and process systems.
• Create constructible design documents from contract drawings and specifications in collaboration with owners, engineers, designers, and construction teams.
• Creation/modification of drawings to existing stringent BIM/CAD standards.
• Review construction documents, product literature, specifications and equipment specifications.
• Survey and field measure existing buildings, structures and equipment.
• Commitment and dedication to implementing state of the art technologies.
• Be able to communicate and convey design technology-related concepts to all levels of design, engineering and construction and professionals.

Technical & Quality Control

• Serve as a Revit and AutoCAD MEP design and technical expert by being knowledgeable of and staying abreast of new design technologies.
• Maintain strong communication and advanced Revit/AutoCAD skills, as well as experience coordinating with other disciplines (e.g., MEP coordination), including the use of Revit, AutoCAD MEP, and Navisworks or other programs to resolve design conflicts.
• Review and/or perform complex, specialized MEP design assignments; demonstrating ability to conduct required research, evaluate data and prepare clear and well documented reports.
• Provide deep design/engineering expertise, guidance and problem solving in the areas of drawings, designs, specifications, calculations, etc.
• Review process flow diagrams, sketches and layouts to ensure quality production and accuracy of other designers' work to assure quality and completeness.
• Review and/or perform process flow diagrams, modeling, engineering, and code research as required.

REQUIRED Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Ability to work closely with Mechanical and Electrical Engineers as well as other internal and external team members.
• Deep mechanical engineering knowledge
• Ability to establish complex design criteria and specifications for all mechanical systems
• Ability to plan and manage projects to achieve client demands and deadlines
• Knowledge of power plant process, operations and economics
• Knowledge of energy efficiency improvement techniques
• Knowledge of construction requirements and piping
• Must be knowledgeable of local, state and national code requirements
• Must be a good time manager, comfortable with frequent deadlines and transitions
• Effective at working with other staff members in a fast-paced environment
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent analytical skills
• Capable of effectively training and mentoring others
• Able to work collaboratively within Concord as well as with clients
• Excellent communication skills
• Able to read, write, speak and understand English

MINIMUM Education & Experience

• Associates or bachelor's degree preferred, or 10+ years of progressive experience in MEP design utilizing both Revit and AutoCAD MEP on large multi-faceted projects particularly in the design of power plant, microgrid, and central plants.
• Advanced knowledge of and proven background in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD MEP, BIM360 and related Building Information Modeling software required.
• Experience with design visualization techniques and applications such as 3D Studio Max, Enscape, Irisvr, etc
• Familiarity with laser scanning equipment and point cloud tracing. Familiarity with Performance Design applications and analysis tools such as Insight 360,
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel & PowerPoint) required
• Must be comfortable working with architects, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors and vendors
• Self-motivating, self-organizing and a reliable, consistent, and mature approach to work
• Clear, positive, and collaborative oral and written communication skills with clients and team members
• Ability to play a positive role in a multi-disciplined team and to seek to improve existing ways of working by finding efficiencies in processes
