Position Summary
The Systems Engineer (SE) will be supporting the Computer Human Interface Imagery and Lighting System, a critical sub-system of the Gateway Program which will return to the Moon
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support engineering flight project schedule, procurement documentation, budget, and system requirements documents
- Develop and support sub-project requirement and verification data packages to support architecture requirements, design, verification/validation, operations, and sustaining engineering
- Conduct product life cycle reviews, coordinate integration, verification and validation activities
- Work with requirements to align with hardware specifications while understanding the verifications
- Perform system engineering functions of projects and provide user input feedback during the design process
- Work with ground testing and flight operations testing of hardware with end item documentation
- Review verification and validation reports to verify compliance with requirements
- Participate and contribute to system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews and critical design reviews
- Perform and review system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall electrical design and performance
- Participate in test, verification, and operation of the as-built hardware
- Work with team members and leads to identify risks, develop risk statements, and plan risk responses
- Work and present schedule and progress to customers
- Perform other duties as required
- Must have good communication and organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment
- Perform other duties as assigned
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
- This position reports to the Program Manager
Qualifications
- BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and 4 years of related engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and 2years of related engineering experience, or Ph.D. from an accredited engineering school and zero (0) years of related experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of SE&I processes, methodologies, tools, and technologies including model-based systems engineering
- Knowledge of test principles, tools, and processes needed to develop test requirements
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, and material selection.
- Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings
- Able to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
- Experience working in a team environment
REQUISITION PREFERENCES:
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering school
- 4+ years of relevant experience in engineering or systems engineering
- Knowledge of Flight Hardware and/or Flight Processes/Paperwork
- Experience with NASA processes
