Job Purpose:

Perform all sandblasting and painting of field and shop equipment, and fabricated parts .

Essential Duties Responsibilities

1. Perform sandblasting of all equipment before sending it to the shop for maintenance or painting.

2. Paint all field and shop equipment as needed.

3. Perform minor maintenance on sandblast and spray equipment.

4. Coordinate with the fabrication and welding shop foreman when sandblasting or painting materials or supplies are needed.

5. Maintain a clean work area.

6. Assist in the rolling stock area as needed.

7. Observe and maintain all safety procedures.

8. Perform other duties as assigned including but not limited to mechanics and servicing and be subject to temporary assignment with other supervisors.

9. Maintain hazardous waste storage drum and secondary containment as specified by The Department of Environment Regulation.

10. Dispose of all spent paint thinner and non-usable paint into the hazardous waste drum for disposal at a later date.

Minimum Qualifications

HS Diploma or equivalent

No experience necessary

Other requirements

Valid Florida Driver's License

Ability to drive a forklift or learn

Must be able to pass a pulmonary function test.

Working Conditions

Primarily works outside exposed to the elements or in a paint shed

Exposed to hazardous materials

Exposed to frequent loud noises

Exposed to dangerous machinery

Generally works five 8-hour days, although overtime may occur
