Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Mining & Minerals is seeking a Project Risk Coordinator / Manager who will be responsible for identifying and assessing threats and opportunities, putting mitigation plans in place should risks materialize and deciding how to avoid, reduce or transfer risks. This role is based at a project construction site near Gogama, Ontario and the successful candidate will be a key member of an international team during the execution phase of a gold mining project. The position is fly-in/fly-out, with a rotation of 14 days on, 14 days off (12 hours per day).

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute established risk management process
  • Work with other members of the Project Leadership Team to identify risks and opportunities for the project.
  • Assess the potential health & safety, environmental, cost, schedule, operational and other impacts of the risks and opportunities, as well as the likelihood of occurrence.
  • Work with assigned Risk Owners to develop, implement and monitor risk mitigation plans.
  • Organize and facilitate periodic risk reviews with the Project Leadership Teams of both Wood and the Client and maintaining the Project Risk Register.
  • Risk reporting to the Project Leadership Teams of both Wood and the Client so they understand the most significant risks and to ensure they are aware of risks relevant to their parts of the project and to individuals to ensure they understand their accountability for individual risks.
  • Communicate and transition risk related information across disciplines.
  • Participate in audits of policy and compliance to standards, including liaison with internal and external auditors.
  • Provide support, education and training to project personnel to build risk awareness within the project team.
  • Support contingency development (e.g. Quantitative Schedule and Cost Risk Analyses), as well as ongoing contingency management.


Skills / Qualifications

  • 5 - 7 years relevant industry or risk management experience and/or accreditation
  • Project management experience
  • EPCM experience on mining and mineral processing projects - preferred
  • Relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree in engineering, construction management, project management, risk management or other related field - preferred
  • Previous experience with risk analysis and simulation software
  • Risk management experience, including knowledge of risk management governance and controls
  • Current authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
