Posting Summary The Retro-Commissioning Engineer is a key contributor to the delivery of retro-commissioning and commissioning services for University projects, with in-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, energy efficiency programs and renewable energy systems. Responsible for the commissioning of building systems which includes building mechanical and electrical systems with an emphasis on HVAC, lighting, chillers, electric motors, pumping systems, building controls, compressed air, variable frequency drives and waste heat recovery. Lead traditional and advanced, data-driven analysis of energy savings potential, conducting audits of facilities with a cost estimating of energy conservation measures (ECMs), and energy modeling. Utilize industry technical knowledge base to advise on retrofit and upgrade strategies through comprehensive reports/proposals detailing analytical findings. Oversee project budgets and assign resources to projects in a cost-efficient manner. Promote a work place that encourages safety in the shop and in the field. Requires active engagement in learning and practicing principles of social justice and inclusion, environmental sustainability and delivering great customer experience. Reports to the Assistant Director Physical Plant/Project Management & Engineering. Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience) Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other Engineering field and two to five years of systems commissioning experience for facilities construction projects required. In-depth knowledge of the building design and construction industry with expertise in the building commissioning process required. Experience in the construction and commissioning of large projects of varying complexity required. Technical knowledge of HVAC and building systems required to evaluate and test the system performance. Effective written and oral communications skills required. Quantitative, analytical, and problem resolution skills required. Valid driver's license or ability to obtain and drivers check required. Initial employment contingent upon successful completion of background check. Desirable Qualifications Total facilities commissioning experience; Certified Commissioning Professional or other commissioning certification. Experience in educational or institutional environment.
