Job Details


As a Resident Engineer, you will work independently under general supervision and in conjunction with the Owner's Project Manager to compose and issue field orders, initiate change proposals for design team review and approval, estimate cost of changes, negotiate costs with contractors, and recommend acceptance to the Owner's Project Manager. You will support roadway, highway and/or streetscape projects in Riverside.


Responsibilities


Provide pre-construction services including bid-ability/constructability reviews and bidding services


Provide contract administration, review contractor's schedule, respond to claims received from contractor, documenting progress of project, and respond to requests for information, submittals and change orders


Provide monitoring of project in accordance with approved plans, specifications, budget, and schedule


Daily personal interaction/coordination with clients, designers, owners, contractors, inspectors, and regulatory agencies


Direct and supervise field construction management staff and their activities and other Company subconsultants as directed


Prepare daily and weekly project status reports


Oversight of inspectors' daily reports


Support project labor compliance efforts


Responsible for maintaining project records using systems approved by Client/Company


Facilitate project delivery and the resolution of project issues in a fair and firm manner


Required Qualifications


Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related engineering discipline


Active California Professional Engineering (PE) license


5+ years of related experience working on transportation/transit projects


Familiar with California Department of Transportation and FHWA procedures


Business development experience writing proposals and interviewing with clients


Ability to travel between project sites and office facilities


Ability to work on-site in a construction trailer or building where exposure to heights, ability to walk on uneven surface, stand, climb ladders, crawl, stoop, enter confined spaces, tolerate heat, cold, dirt, odors, wastewater, chemicals, and other construction hazards that may exist
