The Reliability Engineer will lead a collaborative effort to ensure sustained reliability, availability, and maintainability of Ridgeville plant equipment, process, and assets. You will facilitate improvement through the utilization of proven reliability practices, techniques, and tools, and provide technical and strategic expertise by focusing on solving equipment reliability and availability losses to enable the plant to meet its business plan and strategy. You will work closely with both Maintenance and Operations personnel in your role and be responsible for equipment performance analysis, equipment critical spare part risk assessments, and identifying equipment reliability improvement opportunities. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager and works closely with both Production, Continuous Improvement, Maintenance, and Engineering departments.


Responsibilities


  • Monitor, analyze and publish Reliability Performance Indicators for each of five (5) production areas in the facility.
  • Perform Root Cause Investigations for equipment failures and determine Failure Modes and identify countermeasures to resolve causes of failures.
  • Improve process availability by developing a Reliability Opportunity List that sets to continuously improve equipment and process.
  • Develop new methods and procedures to reduce repair time for equipment downtime and duration and effectiveness of area shutdowns.
  • Review and optimize equipment Preventative Maintenance plans and schedules to maximize equipment reliability with available maintenance resources.
  • Perform equipment spare part analysis of all process areas to determine criticality, availability, and optimum spare part philosophy to support maintenance strategy.
  • Calculate and communicate MTBF and MTTR indicators for critical equipment to support maintenance strategy and performance.
  • Review and develop reliability-based maintenance strategies and coordinate the implementation of the reliability-based maintenance strategy master plan
  • Works with Project Engineering to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations. This includes standardization, sizing, and integration of diagnostic tools in the design specifications.

Job Details


Education, Skills, And Experience


  • Bachelor of Engineering degree from an ABET-certified institution.
  • Certification as a CRE (Certified Reliability Engineer) or CMRP (Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professionals) will be an advantage.
  • Track record of maintenance or engineering experience in a large industrial environment is a requirement.
  • Proficient to interpret, analyze, and present technical information using data from CMMS (SAP). Knowledge of advanced data gathering and analysis techniques
  • Capable of functioning effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Excel pivot tables and charting
  • Knowledge reliability tools such as FMEA (Failure Modes Effect Analysis) and Root Cause Analysis tools.
  • Advanced proficiency with CMMS--SAP is preferred.
  • Ability to understand product reliability goals, reliability improvement, and reliability prediction skills will be required.
  • Experience in thermography, oil analysis, ultrasonic analysis, vibration analysis, motor analysis, and associated performance trending programs
  • Minimum Five (5) years of experience in reliability engineering and/or equipment maintenance improvement-related role.
  • Experience with the Six Sigma methodology will be an advantage.
  • Ability to speak, read, hear, and write, with or without assistance
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, and other office equipment


Work Environment & Physical Demands


  • Sit or stand for reasonable periods of time.
  • Climb stairs and vertical ladders
  • Wear PPE (Respirators, steel toe shoes, safety glasses, hard hat)
  • Good hand/finger dexterity.
  • Grip/grasp various tools and/or office equipment and use safely and properly.
  • Bending, stretching, reaching, kneeling, & rotating body while in various positions.
  • Good depth perception and hand/eye coordination to accommodate working with equipment at a distance.
  • Lift, push, and/or pull a maximum of 15 pounds.
  • Work in hot/humid, cold/adverse, semi-dusty to dusty, wet/damp environments for extended periods of time.
  • Work in moderate to high-level noise & vibration settings for extended periods.
  • Work around chemicals, pitches, solvents, oils, or other raw materials, & fumes.
  • Work safely from various heights above floor level.
  • Work around a variety of mobile and moving equipment safely.
