Description:

SUMMARY: The Refrigeration Apprentice Mechanic will perform preventive maintenance, routine inspections, and repairs of air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, wastewater plant systems, air compressors, and exhaust systems.


JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Promote a safe working environment and follow company guidelines for safety at all times

• Maintain shift and equipment logs in a clear and concise manner

• Operate, repair, test, and maintain all Waste Water systems, exhaust systems, air compressors, HVAC, and refrigeration equipment using necessary hand tools and testing equipment

• Align motors, pumps, shafts, couplings

• Electrical repairs and inspection on pumps, compressors, fans, and controls

• Connect piping using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, or cemented joints

• Secures pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers

• Maintains clean work area

• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Education Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Must be able to read and write English. Must be able to display basic arithmetic skills


Training, Skills, Licenses: Minimum of 6 months of commercial refrigeration experience. Universal Recovery License (current or obtain in 6 months). Apprentice HVAC card (current or obtain in 6 months).


Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is frequently exposed to wet, loud, cold (35 degrees), and/or humid conditions. The employee frequently is required to walk, and use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, rotate or twist, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
