What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking a Mechanical Analyst to join our dynamic team!
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Work with other analysts to develop simulation solutions to meet project needs.
Develop the skills to build finite-element models from CAD geometry, performing mechanical analyses with commercial codes, and learning to use the advanced Sandia simulation codes.
Work on various structural and/or thermal modeling & simulation projects, depending on skills and interests.
This position is eligible for telecommuting and the selected applicant must live within a reasonable distance for commuting to the assigned work location when necessary.
Qualifications We Require
Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil (Structural) Engineering, or a related field
2 years' experience using CAD Software as a mechanical design engineer
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE-Q level clearance
Qualifications We Desire
Active DOE-Q (or equivalent) clearance
Understanding of the mechanical design and configuration management tools used at Sandia National Labs
A strong understanding of fundamental engineering principles, proven by high academic achievement
Ability to work as a member of an engineering team and collaborate on projects
Experience with commercial structural or thermal analysis codes, such as ANSYS, Nastran, or similar software
Experience with team leadership and/or project management

Our Mechanical Design, Modeling & Analysis Department provides mechanical design and analysis services for internal Sandia customers. We use state-of-the-art engineering modeling and simulation tools to develop design solutions, to perform advanced thermal and structural analysis, and to assist senior analysts with creating analysis models for high-performance computing. The engineers on our team use Creo along with Sandia's modeling & simulation tools, such as Cubit and the Sierra codes, to complete their work. Our simulation activities range from design analysis,to developing high performance simulation models of complex mechanical systems.
