Job Responsibilties: Operates conventional and radio controlled overhead cranes making single and unison lifts. Rolls, positions, and transports material, product and equipment using both hooks in unison when required or in conjunction with another crane. Work is performed in various areas where continuous concentration and skillful operation of controls are required to safely, properly and precisely place subject load. Takes the following steps for load transport operations; determines, selects, secures and adjusts suitable type and quantity of lifting and securing devices, i.e., slings, hooks, cables, etc.; insures that load's weight limits and clearances are properly observed; assures that proper and safe balance of load are achieved through uniform tension and even weight distribution; aligns load to facilitate precise positioning or mating; directs or guides load movements for equipment, responsible for managing each crane lift and responsible for the safety of all personnel assisting or in the surrounding area to the load; inspects cables, slings, hooks, etc. as required. Job Qualifications/Requirements: Strictly adheres to safety, health, and crane operation standards/polices Minimum of 2 years' experience in operating overhead Cranes Experience working in a manufacturing environment and familiar with plant safety regulations. Ability to follow and adhere to written and verbal instructions Determine load weights, and check them against lifting capacities to prevent overload. Experience with rigging and binding equipment and loads High school diploma/GED is required for all BWXT positions and graduation date will be verified via background check. Must be a US Citizen and not have dual citizenship. Must be able to work ANY SHIFT. Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check prior to hire date. Candidates please note: This position is available on our weekend shift which consists of twelve (12) hours on Saturday and Sunday and eight (8) hours on Monday (the eight shift could be Monday instead of Friday); work thirty two (32) hours and get paid for forty (40) hours. Scheduled off days are Tuesday through Friday or Monday through Thursday. Training will be on the Monday - Friday crew before being assigned to the weekend crew. This position is considered full time and is complimented by a very generous benefit program. The hourly rate for this position is $31.175.
