Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Quality Technician is primarily responsible for measuring and testing production parts to ensure specifications are achieved and ensure production processes are in control and completed as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Measure, inspect and assess parts to determine conformance to specification.
  • Identify non-compliance in process and part manufacture and carry out site control of nonconforming product procedures.
  • Perform required testing on manufactured parts and raw materials including hardness testing.
  • Record results of measurement, inspection and testing.
  • Abides by all Oil States Energy Services Safety and Operational Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Quality Technician II

  • Perform required testing on manufactured parts and raw materials including hardness testing Nondestructive testing (NDE), and any other testing required.
  • Calculate statistical characteristics of process and measurement data.
  • Support special and improvement projects as assigned.
  • Support corrective action efforts as assigned.

Quality Technician III

  • Internal systems audits as assigned.
  • Train others in inspection, measurement and test protocol.
  • Support Operations personnel in making decisions concerning the conformity of manufactured parts.
  • Initiate and/or complete corrective/preventative action requests in accordance with the OSES Quality Management System (Policies, Standard Operating Procedures,
  • Observe Performance of entry level technicians, and Provide performance feedback as needed.
  • Assist Manager in developing training objectives.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Familiarity with computers and business application software. (e.g., Excel, MS Office, Access, Outlook)
  • Good verbal and written communication.
  • Intermediate math ability.
  • Self-directed - work with little or no direct supervision.
  • Time management - effectively prioritize work tasks to complete assignments on time.
  • Knowledge in 5S, 1 piece flow, Pull systems, Visual management, Standard work, Problem solving, SPC preferred

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Quality Technician I

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience as a Quality Technician or other related quality assurance position in the oil & gas industry preferred.
  • Competency with measuring equipment such as Micrometers and calipers etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings

Quality Technician II

  • 3-6 years' experience as a Quality technician or other related quality assurance position in the oil & gas industry
  • NDE level II certifications in the Mag particle and Liquid Penetrant Methods.
  • Successfully complete OSES In-House training as SES Visual weld inspector
  • Proficiency in the use of all on site measuring equipment, gaging, gaging software, Hardness testing equipment and Blue print interpretation.

Quality Technician III

  • 6 plus years' Experience as a Quality Technician or other related quality assurance position in the oil & gas industry preferred
  • Internal Auditor
  • Obtain Certification for Quality Technician through American Society of Quality Certified Quality Technician
  • Ability to train Quality Technicians in the use of all on site measuring equipment, gaging, gaging software, hardness testing equipment, and blue print interpretation
  • Able to fully function without supervision; able to guide other Technicians and provide performance feedback

CERTIFICATION & LICENSES

  • NDE Testing including Magnetic Particle Examination and Liquid Penetrant examination
  • ASQ Quality Technician
  • OSES visual weld inspection
  • Internal auditing
  • Safety Certification - company provided
  • Fork truck operation - company provided
  • Internal Auditor - company provided

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to work in an environment where exposure to loud noise, vibrations and bright lights, moving parts and rotating equipment is present.
  • Must be able to work in an environment where exposure to various chemicals is present.
  • Must be able to exert force to occasionally lift or move objects of up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to frequently bend, lift, climb, kneel, push, pull, sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must have good manual dexterity to perform daily tasks and operate machines, computers or other standard office equipment.
  • Must have vision and hearing within normal range.
  • Must be able to deal with moderate levels of stress and/or stressful situations to respond to urgent situations.
  • Must be able to work in an environment where safety glasses, steel toe boots and ear plugs are required to be worn at all times.
  • Must be able to work in an environment of varying climates including warm, hot and cold temperatures.
