Our client is currently seeking a Project Manager for a long-term contract/ permanent role at their Bio-Diesel Refinery in Burnaby, BC. Candidate will be based out of Calgary Alberta. And will work in the Engineering department for the initial stages of the project. And will progressively spend more time on site in BC as the project unfolds.

Shift: Monday to Friday, with every 2nd Friday off.

Job Specific Points :

• Major capital project for a small refinery. Project makes a huge difference to the refineries bottom line and longevity.
• Uniqueness of facility layout, a small refinery with complex challenges
• Project is green and sustainable but within the oil & gas sector
• 1 of only a handful of Renewable Diesel plants in design/concept currently
• Vancouver location: modern city with wider ranging activities - you can golf and go skiing in the same day
• Very unique and interesting project that has complex engineering challenges
• Located in initially in Calgary and then site (possibly module fab yard)
• BC / Canada experience preferred
• Options for contract or staff position

Key Job Requirements:

• Individual must have had experience with Full Lifecycle i.e., Projects where they were involved in multiple phases: FEED, Detailed Design, Procurement, Construction & Commissioning and Handover.
• At least 5 years in a management (engineering management, project management, etcâ )
• Construction management experience is required
• Oil and gas process industry experience - min 15 years
• Major project experience in 500 MM to $1 billion range +/-
• Understands the process of large-scale oil companies but who understands fit for purpose processes and a cost-conscious approach.
• Refinery experience / mid-stream is highly preferred
• Experience with modular design build & installation preferred
• Engineering degree or vocational qualification with suitable training and experience.
• Demonstrated outcomes for projects they had significant ownership of with regard to cost and schedule
• Familiarity with project assurance reviews
• PMP designation and expat experience is considered an asset

Needs to be familiar with the job specific terminology

For example: To know what a diesel hydro treater is. And to have a thorough understanding regarding what a reactor is etc.
