Wood is currently recruiting for a Lead Project Manager to be a part of the Operational Management Solutions team in Houston, Texas. The position will support and assure delivery excellence in project management practices across assigned business grouping, ensuring that all projects are providing high quality Project Management expertise in line with Wood standards and procedures. This position will also provide functional leadership, assurance and governance for the Project Management function in their assigned business grouping. Responsible for the development and improvement of Project Management resources and practices. Act as functional manager for all project management staff in the business grouping, and have functional oversight of the performance of all Projects in their assigned business grouping. Leads by example, consistently displaying and enforcing the Company's values and behaviours, commitment to the highest standards of safe and ethical behaviour, to ensure safe and reliable operations and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities will included: + Ensure effective monitoring and reporting is undertaken in relation to: + the delivery of projects vs cost, scope, quality and schedule requirements + the delivery of contract profit targets + maintenance of risk registers on projects + Oversee and facilitate the project review governance process + Provide overall goverenance in the set-up and execution of projects + Support Project/Contract start-up review/overview + Responsible for competence of project management personnel to carry out their assignments Provides Oversight of all Project Execution Plans to ensure consistency and address any deficiencies; reviews and approves any proposed deviations from Wood project management standards and procedures. + Where concerns arise regarding project performance, conduct or organise for independent investigation to establish causes and mitigations/corrections + Ensure End of Project reports are issued together with project Lessons Learned in line with Wood quality guidelines + Ensure that Project Management personnel manage projects effectively in line with company policies and procedures and within the requirements of contracts signed by customers. + Ensure proposals and projects are resourced with suitably qualified project management resources in line with the requirements of the proposal and the project. + Manage utilisation of project management resources vs workload. + Establish future resource and capability requirements within the Project Management department to deliver current and future projects. + Undertake assurance activities and peer reviews to identify points of vulnerability + May act as sponsor for allocated projects as appropriate Business Development and Growth + Provide support to the business development process to identify and win new work + Customer engagement in support of Business development and proposals. + Review Project Management input to Proposals, ensuring appropriateness of PM strategy and key PM resources + Ensure formal proposals handover to operations as appropriate Leadership + Is an advocate and role model for ethical behaviour and compliance with applicable laws and policies. + Drive HSSEA culture and performance across the project management community. + Set the long-term direction for the project management function and formulate plans to meet them. + Manages direct reports including accountability for recruitment, salary and job change actions, performance and capability management, career progression, training and development. + Coaches, mentors and empowers others to make decisions within established parameters + Ensure the development of personnel to take more senior roles as their career progresses. Governance, Policies and Procedures + Develop, own and maintain local Project Management processes and procedures in line with Wood policies and requirements and global best practice. + Responsible for Project Delivery Assurance and governance such as; + Project Performance Dashboards + Oversight of Audits + Competence processes (eg Authorised Engineers) + Proposal Execution Reviews + Risk Categorisation Qualifications: + Bachelor's degree in engineering or other relevant technical discipline + Project Management Professional (PMP), Associate in Project Management (APM) or equivalent certification is preferred Knowledge, skills and experience: + Extensive broad and deep project management experience in relevant industry sector(s); typically requires a minimum of 10 years of which at least 5 in senior project management roles + Significant experience with multiple project delivery types + Extensive experience and understanding of project execution tools, processes and procedures. + Expert level ability to build and lead a team of technical people, actively supporting, encouraging and engaging those reporting to the position + A thorough understanding of strategic and change management with the ability to translate this into appropriate goals, methodologies and strategies for implementation. + Strong organisational and time management skills; able to effectively manage within tight time frames, to prioritize, and delegate appropriately + Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present, inform, and persuade at all levels and externallyQuality focused with attention to detail Personal Attributes + Passionately pursues and supports, demonstrates and embeds company values + Strong leadership skills, with a passion for developing talent and competency + Strong problem solving skills + Inclusive mindset, values diversity and can work effectively across a multicultural community + Strong interpersonal and relational skills, able to work cross functionally and create trust with customers, leadership and peer group + Able to influence others and drive results Wood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the world's most critical challenges.
