Context:
From eight dedicated plants in the United States and Europe, Aerospace & Transportation (A&T), a business unit of Constellium, develops and produces the aluminum products that contribute to shape the global aerospace, defense, and transportation markets.
The Ravenswood facility, consisting of a cast house, hot rolling mill, plate and coil cold mills and coil finishing mills, is an integral component of the A&T business unit. The central engineering group, to which this role is assigned, is responsible for major capital improvements across all areas of the plant as well as engineering, design, and drafting support for the maintenance and operations departments.
Primary Purpose:
Mechanical engineering for multi-discipline projects.
Mechanical support and supervision for assigned project and maintenance outages.
Interface and coordination with multi-discipline team assigned to the project
Mechanical review of designs and scopes for safety and to minimize installation costs.
Periodic mechanincal guidance and support for plant maintenance and operations
Support of engineering system maintenance, advancement and improvement initiatives
Key Accountabilities:
Accountable for engineering and/or mechanical leadership of assigned, simple and intermediate, maintenance and engineering projects to safely successfully complete on time and budget.
Ensuring designs for assigned projects comply with mechanical industry and plant standards
Leadership Competencies / Technical Skills Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree of Mechanical Engineering
3 years of industry experience preferred
Experience and knowledge of typical rolling mill and support systems, casting technologies preferred.
Willingness to learn project management, quality, and lean methodologies & techniques.
Proficient with typical computer based software and systems
Complexity:
The individual must be able to work with all levels of plant personnel, have the ability to make decisions independently or with consistence, and accept responsibility.
Must work to achieve safe and cost effective solutions to all problems.
Complex and diverse problem solving is required. Must have ability to solve problems by consensus, as well as independently and remotely.
Must be well organized and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
