Job Purpose

Support the work of the Project Management department to ensure the senior staff can remain focused on client management and budget oversight.

- Payroll: Full Time, Non-Exempt Status

- Hours: 7:00 am - 4:00 pm

- Lunch: 1 hour


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with project quality control and assurance and ensure all legal requirements are adhered to.
  • Assist in purchasing and procurement activities.
  • Review all completion reports, daily time reports, and labor distribution sheets.
  • Prepare necessary information for subcontracts.
  • Dedicate time and energy to studying IronShore's project management departmental processes to prepare for increased management responsibility as an Assistant Project Manager and/or Project Manager.
  • Coordinate information from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Compile and organize project paperwork on a strict timeline (REI, submittals, change orders, and shop drawings).
  • Listen and respond to team and client requests and translate client requirements into practical terms that can be implemented by a team.
  • Prioritize and organize project tasks into required timeline and ensure project meets its deadlines at each stage.
  • Determine project schedule by studying project plan and specifications, product design, customer requirements, and performance standards, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements.
  • Execute the various tasks assigned by senior staff to ensure the successful completion of all projects.
  • Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends and recommending actions.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

Associate degree and one to three years' experience in project management or related field required; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree in construction management, project management, or engineering is strongly preferred.

Language Ability

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Math Ability

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, Internet software, database software, and estimating software.

Working conditions

Although project engineers typically work in normal office conditions, with a moderate noise level from office machines, they often visit construction sites and factory floors which may be noisy, dusty, dirty, and occasionally hazardous. These visits may involve frequent travel. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions.
