Job Overview
Our Client is a global manufacturer of industrial gases and has an immediate, full time, direct hire opportunity for a Project Engineer in Chandler, AZ. Relocation assistance will be provided if required.
They are seeking a Project Engineer to develop and implement cryogenic and industrial gas delivery system projects. The projects include all stages from initial proposal development through startup and turnover. The team includes individuals from within the following North Americas (NA) Customer Engineering Organization; Asset, Product, Work Process and Equipment support, as well as teams within the West Business Organization; Logistics, Sales, Marketing, etc.
This position is responsible for crafting technical bids and providing maintenance support to the Commercial Liquid Bulk Sales team based on an understanding of the customer requirements. The candidate will work closely with the Engineering Manager while receiving in-house training and mentorship from the regional Customer Engineering team members. This important position offers an excellent opportunity for career development and practical engineering and project management experience.
Job Accountabilities:
Provide leadership in Clients' Basic Safety Program to drive the entire project team to achieve company safety targets during all phases of project execution.
Design and lead new customer station installations or modification to existing systems from the proposal phase through implementation.
Partner with engineering, operations, and sales teams to develop and implement projects and services.
Provide Sale of Equipment and engineering services to Clients' customers.
Prepare scope of work documents detailing system design criteria and customer versus Client installation roles and responsibilities.
Conduct site evaluations for Liquid Oxygen, Bulk Hydrogen, and Liquid Hydrogen systems to ensure compliance with NFPA and local laws.
Generate installation cost estimates, bills of materials, and detailed equipment layout, foundation, and flow schematic drawings.
Prepare construction packages containing system details and drawings, budgetary information, safety checklists, and other installation requirements.
Modifications to existing operating systems require the generation detailed Temporary Work Instructions (TWI's), often in conjunction with direct customer involvement to ensure flawless / transparent integration.
Complete project closeout activities, including actual vs. budget cost justification and drawing as-builts.
Use existing in-house software for project management, document storage, and change management.
Work with outside contractors for permitting, easements, construction, and piping installations.
Participation in Regional Alignment teams to identify continuous improvement opportunities with a focus to serve customers more efficiently and effectively.
Provide recommendations to Product Supply Teams regarding equipment design and performance.
Follow all internal work processes for safety, engineering, project management, and operations.
Work with customers, commercial team, maintenance, and/or EHS&Q to take on quality and/or performance issues on existing systems.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Preferred engineering degree from recognized university in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
3+ years Engineering experience
Detailed oriented with strong follow through and shown ability to prioritize different projects while maintaining focus on contract requirements
Have good problem-solving abilities, be results-oriented, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills enabling you to work well within a multi-disciplinary design team located in multiple geographies and to collaborate closely directly with suppliers and client
Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, financial data analysis, technical capability to understand process and customer technology
Day and overnight travel within the Western Region to customer sites, estimated at 2-4 times a month. Additional, travel (1-4 times a year with overnights) will be required to other national locations for training and ongoing project support.
