My Team is actively seeking an experienced Project Controller for a permanent lead role supporting our client in Kings Mountain, NC just outside of Charlotte! This position will support the site Capital Project Manager with benchmarking & project closeout.

SUMMARY: The Project Controls Lead provides project controls support to the Kings Mountain project site. Capital projects vary by category and stage (as defined by client Project Process). This role has primary responsibility for WBS/CBS creation and maintenance, cost management, change management, risk management, and project reporting & analysis. Secondary responsibilities are coordinating with planning/scheduling & progress measurement team members in due course of validating budgets/spend/forecasts. The Site Project Controls Lead will assist the Site Capital Project Manager with benchmarking and project closeout. This individual will be located at the manufacturing site in Kings Mountain, NC and will report directly to the Site Capital Project Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Display and champion Core Values on the project team
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with Site Contractor project controls and management teams
• Ensure compliance with ALB Project Control Corporate Guidelines and Standards
• Assist the project managers in the development and management of Project Controls APP deliverables
• Assist the Project Managers in the establishment of the project's Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS)
• Assist and provide support, as required, in the creation of the project cost estimate in Cleopatra - must be comfortable reading basic drawings, performing material takeoffs (MTO), site walk-downs, procuring budgetary quotes from vendors, and other basic early phase estimate development functions
• Site Project Controls Lead will provide estimate assurance support, as needed
• Convert the project's approved estimating into a control budget for usage in cost management
• Liaise with the Controller - Sustaining Capital Projects for the month end financial process including:
  • Monthly calculation of Value of Work Done (VOWD) and supporting narratives using ALB standard tools and procedures
  • Monthly calculation of accruals
  • Coordination and management of monthly forecast into SAP/PPM
  • Analysis and delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual forecast performance using client standard tools and procedures inclusive of budgets, actuals, commitments, accruals, trends, variances
• Coordinate and prepare the cost management input to the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and overall budgeting and reporting processes for the entire site portfolio following established tools, systems, procedures, and protocols
• Interface with Finance & Accounting in the creation, management and control of cash flow forecasting, provision of financial perspective on project performance, asset creation, timekeeping, accounting entries and reviews, system data analysis and reporting
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of project schedules at the appropriate levels of detail established by Project Controls Procedures and Guidelines. Must be comfortable with planning and scheduling software such as Primavera, Microsoft Project, and/or Milestone Pro.
• Assist project managers in the validation of Contractor reporting budgets/actuals/accruals/forecast expenditures. Review Contractor invoices for appropriate scope, rates, and other contractual obligations.
• Liaise with the Corporate Risk Manager on the appropriate application of CII's PDRI Model and other risk management tools, practices, approaches for site-based projects
• Assist the Site Project Controls Manager with collection of portfolio data for benchmarking and continuous improvement in the project delivery process
• Liaise with 3rd party scheduling and estimating companies
• Provide guidance, direction and specialized assistance to project for the resolution of difficult and complex project control problems
• Direct the site project controls technician on day to day, weekly, and monthly deliverables

Education/Qualification Requirements

• At least 10+ years in a capital projects project control role, emphasis on cost control and change management, with supervisory experience
• The incumbent is to preferably have an engineering or business degree/diploma
• Good working knowledge of the SAP system in particular the SAP Projects Module
• Advanced Excel is a must, Power Bi experience is a plus
