As the Product Development Design Manager, you will be responsible for the functions outlined below:
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for demonstrating commitment to and leadership of environmental health and safety principles, policies and procedures.
- Manage, support and provide direction and leadership to a Product Design Team.
- Establish long and short range goals and objectives for business development, growth, revenue, sales and individual employee achievements.
- Responsible for leading and supervising a team of engineers as they develop, test, modify, and create solutions to technical problems.
- Establish work measurement programs and analyze work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
- Recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocating work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
- Hire, train, and mentor other engineers and supporting staff.
- Write performance reviews and solve internal issues.
- Discuss and lay out project specifications.
- Make detailed plans to accomplish goals.
- Analyze market demand and available resources.
- Support the preparation of budgets, bids, and contracts.
- Negotiate research contracts.
- Confer with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.
- Manage engineering activities within an organization; implement and maintain engineering objectives and initiatives.
- Manage creation and improvement of products and procedures that involve the engineering department. Review, approve, or modify product designs throughout process.
- Responsible for establishing instructions and guidelines and using them to perform the functions of the job.
- Provides adequate support, training and development to team members to continuously improve Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery and Productivity.
- Expected to be a contributor to the company standards on high integrity, safety, fair and equitable treatment and a positive work environment
- Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by the Supervisor and/or management
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's Degree with concentration in Engineering or a related area; 5+ years of Product Development and Design Engineering experience preferably in the firearms industry or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the field.
- Teamwork and the ability to cooperate and work proactively with others is a must.
- Dealing with complex issues to ensure that leadership and supervision, are kept abreast of problems, change, issues, etc.
- Knowledge of small caliber firearms (rifles, pistols and ammunition) strongly desired.
- Working knowledge of 3D design software, preferably SolidWorks.
- Extensive leadership, management and planning skills.
- Great attention to detail and excellent record keeping skills.
- Self-motivated; willing to put in extra effort and hours as needed.
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities and work under deadlines and pressure.
- Ability to work, interact and effectively communicate with all company officials, employees, vendors, customers, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify and address problems, meet deadlines, and stay within budget and schedule

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting and bending throughout the workday.
- Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, to include working in and around machinery, exposure to noise and chemicals, lights/lasers, etc.
- Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment as required by your position and/or Company policy.
