Job Overview
Role and Responsibilities
The role and responsibilities of an Intern - Process Engineering are as follows:
Responsible for the safety and quality stewardship of production and sanitation team members
Support the daily and long-term production objectives of all products ensuring all are produced efficiently, timely, and in accordance to Freshpet quality standards
Represent Operations on multi-disciplinary teams including those responsible for technology transfer, product lifecycle management, quality record management, process investigations, continuous improvements, and site projects
Provides front line technical observations and support for manufacturing of all products
Ensures successful manufacturing production runs by assessing risk, implementing preventive measures, investigating, and troubleshooting process issues
In conjunction with various internal and external partners, investigates and coordinates the timely resolution of deviations through comprehensive use of Root Cause Analysis tools
Devises and implements CAPAs to address root cause and ensure effectiveness
Trends key performance metrics
Participates in internal and external audits/inspections
Must participate as an active team player and motivated individual searching knowledge, continuous improvement processes, and safer work conditions
Write production and sanitation operation procedures (SOP, SSOP, STW)
Understand and follow importance of LOTO, SDS's, GMP's, HAACP, CCP's
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Qualifications for a position as an Intern - Process Engineering include:
Must be open to and comfortable with change
Must be currently pursuing a degree and remain fully enrolled in a 4-year college or university during the duration of the internship.
Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering (Industrial, Chemical, Food Science, or related field)
Rising Junior or Senior preferred
Preferred Skills
Self-starter, works independently, takes initiative.
Ability to work independently in a manufacturing environment while adhering to good GMP and safety practices.
Flexibility: performing wide range of tasks, accepting new challenges, responsibilities, and assignments.
Excellent organizational and multitasking ability with strong attention to detail
Strong analytical, written/verbal communication, interpersonal skills
Proficiency in MS Office applications Powerpoint, Word, Excel, Outlook
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
The internship program at Freshpet is designed to provide students with a learning experience that will give them an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge.
