This is a highly technical position requiring a self-directed and responsible individual to support a highly automated manufacturing environment by identifying opportunities and executing solutions to improve reliability, quality and efficiency of plant operations and systems.
Work is to be performed under the direction of the Engineering Coordinator with considerable independence. A successful candidate must demonstrate initiative, professionalism, and strong work ethic.
Required Qualifications
B.S degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited engineering program
Demonstrated high level of initiative, assertiveness, and self-direction
Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple project activities
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Demonstrated ability to work with people of all backgrounds at various levels: strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to excel in a project team environment
Ability to analyze data to identify deliverables, gaps, and inconsistencies
Strong computer skills and experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc)
Successful McKee test results
Preferred Qualifications
Proven track record for projects delivering results within the allotted budget and schedule while meeting the needs of the customer
Experience with design, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems
Experience troubleshooting industrial equipment
Experience working with mechanical system components such as heat exchangers, valves, gearboxes, pumps, pneumatics, etc.
Demonstrated ability to design reliable and user friendly equipment and systems
Experience troubleshooting automated production equipment
Familiarity with PLC-based control systems, preferably Allen Bradley & Modicon
Experience evaluating for safety risk and implementing safe design solutions
Working knowledge of shop practices
Ability to manage projects of varying complexity
Experience in a food-manufacturing environment
Working knowledge of sanitary design principles
Experience using CAD software, preferably SolidWorks
Familiarity with LEAN principles and concepts
Duties and Responsibilities
Develops new and innovative solutions, approaches, equipment and systems that add value to the company
Work closely with plant teams to optimize daily operations and provide engineering support to solve problems
Identify process improvement opportunities using real time equipment data
Provide technical training to manufacturing and maintenance personnel
Responsible for developing and meeting project cost, justification, schedule, and performance objectives
Lead cross-functional teams in advanced problem-solving and improvement methodologies using Root Cause Analysis
Assist in the integration of new products into existing operations
Daily interaction and support of plant operations
Help to stabilize the process by identifying and educating what the capabilities of our equipment and processes are
Participates in team meetings providing engineering input and guidance
Directs the work of contractors and administrative employees as required
Performs after hours or on-call duties, as required
Execute other duties as assigned
