Our client has an opening for a Solids Handling Process Engineer for their hydrogen generation group.

In this role, you will be working with a team of Chemical Process Engineers, Environmental Engineers, Analytical Material Chemists, Plant Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and Engineering Technicians to design, build, test, and deploy a solid carbon/gas separation train for a state of the art pyrolysis technology. You will also advise plant design engineers on design and process scope, including for commercially viable/available equipment choices. The role will initially focus on designing and installing carbon/hydrogen separation equipment in a pilot plant, but will also be involved in commercial scale design.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing systems and selecting equipment for carbon removal and dust handling
• Gas flow modelling
• Visiting customer sites in the USA for the deployment of pilot technology
• Working with engineering and innovation team to design, build, test and deploy solid carbon/ gas separation train for state of the art pyrolysis technology
• Installing and designing carbon/ hydrogen separation equipment

Skills and experience:

• Experience specifying, designing, and operating safe and reliable powder/dust handling equipment in a continuous chemical process.
• Strong technical understanding of different gas/solid separation processes (cyclones, settling tanks, valves, filters, ESP etc.)
• Strong knowledge of material and powder properties as they relate to solids handling.
• Experience sizing solids transport equipment and storage vessels.
• Strong fundamental knowledge of particle fluidization, settling, and gas/solid mixing principles.
• Familiarity with the major vendors, engineering firms, and suppliers in the solids processing industry including filters, compactors, and conveyors.
• Mechanical design skills (CAD, Solidworks, or similar).
• BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
