Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) currently seeks to fill a multidisciplinary role in the Huntsville Hardware Engineering Team. This team provides integration design solutions for land, sea and mobile C4ISR systems. The qualified applicant will be responsible for supporting a team of approximately 120 engineers and staff in an array of technical design-related areas.
This will consist of communication with engineers at various skill level to communicate design format considerations using tact, persuasion and/or negotiation to ensure that designs are prepared in accordance with standard engineering drafting practices.
Anticipated responsibilities
-- 50% CAD design, drawing, and model checking across multiple programs
-- 20% Support development of common drawing practices and techniques
-- 20% Maintain database of common components and approved vendors
-- 10% Education/Training of personnel to ensure use of correct design formats and techniques

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a grade level 3 or level 4.
BQs for a Draftman 3 is High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience
BQs for a Draftsman 4 is High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experience
-- Minimum 4-6 years of experience designing or checking electrical parts and assemblies and drawings
-- Strong understanding of drafting and modeling standards in accordance with ASME Y14.xxx standards
-- Strong understanding of CAD and product data structure, configuration management practices, technical data packages IAW MIL-DTL-31000, engineering change management practices, and Bills of Material
-- Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
-- Willingness to assist in orienting, training, assigning and checking the work of lower level employees.
-- Associate degree in a related technical discipline

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Model Based Design/Model Based Engineering
-- Experience specifically with TeamCenter PLM systems
-- Strong understanding of cable design standards, practices and specs
-- Experience in communicating with Peers to ensure consistent design practices
-- Active security clearance, level Secret or higher or ability to obtain
-- Direct experience with Solidworks, AutoCAD and Visio and any PDM/PLM application

Salary Range: $49,600 USD - $82,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $59,000 USD - $98,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
