The Assistant Construction Project Manager will provide high level support to the project staff to ensure quality and timely execution of design/build projects from design to completion. These phases include: Scheduling, subcontractor buyout, cost reporting, preparation of subcontracts, the handling of owner coordination, construction quality oversight, and project closeout. You may run smaller projects on your own, mentor Project Engineers, Summer Construction Interns, and takes on the additional responsibilities to become a Project Manager.

The Principal, Structural Engineer will serve as a key leader in our engineering group, Clayco Design and Engineering. In this role you will have responsibility to assist in the pursuit, perform design and design management, execution, and delivery of industrial, institutional, and commercial projects. You are expected to provide the leadership, management, and vision necessary to deliver an exceptional customer service. You will be also be charged with recruiting the best and brightest talent in the market to continue to grow our team to be industry leaders. Success will be measured by winning and executing our work profitably, earning new engineering opportunities, and turning these opportunities into Clayco design-build projects


The Specifics of the Role:


  • Provide a combination of business development, client relationship management and project delivery work.
  • Identify and pursue new project opportunities and growth-related initiatives in conjunction with Regional Managers, Office Managers and marketing professionals
  • Demonstrate confidence, business acumen, negotiations, interpersonal and communications skills required to maintain effective relationships with clients in critical business dealings, relationships, and negotiations with suppliers and business partners.
  • Plan, direct and coordinate activities of project teams to ensure compliance with agreements and exercise cost control to implement the approved design within established budget restraints.
  • Provide technical guidance to lead and manage multi-disciplined engineering teams including junior/graduate engineers.
  • Provide mentoring to support junior engineers career development.
  • Initiate and review qualification and pricing proposals. Lead interviews and presentations in pursuit of new projects.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with senior client management and staff.
  • Lead the preparation of technical reports, engineering specifications, drawings and perform calculations in support of engineering activities.
  • Accountable for QA/QC on projects.


Required


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural or Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering is required; Master's degree in structural engineering preferred.
  • 10+ years' experience in structural design. Experience should include technical oversight of design teams, project management and client relationship management.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.
  • Experience and proven track record delivering a wide range of project types and sizes with public and private clients.
  • Experience working with governmental, local agencies.
  • Experience working with Contractors on large scale Design-Build construction projects a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Presentations at key industry related conferences and seminars.
  • Must be willing to travel for assignments as needed
