Strategic Space Systems Division has an opening for a Principal Engineer - Thruster, to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Manhattan Beach, California.
The position involves working in the Chemistry Laboratories section which performs rocket thruster testing to support spacecraft propulsion production for Northrop Grumman. The successful Principal Engineer will be capable and comfortable working independently, collaboratively, and proactively. The successful candidate will have the skills to evaluate and apply engineering techniques to solve a broad range of rocket thruster testing challenges, both technical and production schedule driven. This individual must have effective communication and social skills, including the technical writing, and be able to interface with a variety of disciplines. The successful candidate will be required to develop an internal customer base for the basis of their ongoing tasks.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 5 years of engineering experience OR Masters of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 3 years of engineering experience OR Doctorate of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 0 years of engineering experience.
- Possess technical hands-on hardware engineering skills
- Data interpretation knowledge associated with rocket thruster testing
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret and/or SCI security clearance
- Experience with hydrazine and/or monomethyl hydrazine rocket fuels and associated rocket thruster testing
- LabVIEW experience
- Rapid prototyping and machine tool experience
- Active in-scope secret and/or SCI security clearance
