Northrop Grumman's Enterprise Services is seeking Principal Information Governance Systems Engineers. The systems engineers will be members of the Information Architecture and Governance (IAG) organization of the Chief Data Office and will be responsible for system integration, implementation, and maintenance of data standards and Principles and Operating Practices (PrOP) in system tools and platforms. Principal Information Governance Systems Engineer will also support the definition, development, decomposition, analysis, verification, and validation of data governance requirements as well as any architecture design stemming from the system requirements. We are looking for self-motivated, enthusiastic people who are excited about taking on a variety of challenges as we continue to develop data and analytics solutions. Successful candidates will be able to work independently under the general direction of the IAG organization and the Chief Data Architect.

We will consider fulltime, virtual telecommuting candidates for the role. Alternatively, these roles can be located in Northern VA, Linthicum, MD or other major Northrop Grumman sites. Some travel may be required to engage key stakeholders in the system design and implementation process. This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Define implementation requirements from system level requirements
  • Conduct operational requirements gathering with Chief Data Office partners, Digital Transformation Office, and sector and functional organization stakeholders
  • Implement data governance capabilities across data architecture tools and systems, including metadata, data quality, and metrics
  • Participate in the selection, gap analysis, configuration, and implementation for data governance standards and PrOP into technology solutions, including data catalog and lineage, dictionary, and business glossaries
  • Develop a strong working relationship with the appropriate business users, provide business-impact-driven analyses, and communicate results to stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline with 5 years of related experience, or a Master's degree with 3 years of related experience; technical experience may be considered in lieu of a STEM degree.
  • Experience supporting requirements development, testing, and/or verification
  • Experience with and good understanding of data lifecycle
  • Understanding of data governance concepts
  • Ability to be able to manage changing priorities and priorities from multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to work alone and in a team environment with limited direction
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with some of these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
  • Experience in data mapping, data flow (lineage and transformation logic) documentation, data dictionary, and other data governance and master data management documentation.
  • Experience implementing data governance, data catalogs and data catalog platforms, and/or data privacy
  • Experience in meta-data management (data classifications, data tagging, glossary, and data lineage)
  • Experience with scripting and scripting languages (e.g., VBA, Python, Power BI)
  • Understanding of Northrop Grumman policies, processes, and data sources
  • Experience with DoD and international customers and/or partners
  • Experience with Agile development and methodologies and SaaS technologies
Salary Range: $92,200 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
