Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Engineer - Materials and Process to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.
The selected candidate will be responsible for analyzing, researching, and developing materials and their related application processes for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.
The candidate will apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material science to investigate material issues and provide solutions.
The candidate will work in a team environment with other engineering organization performing detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications and manufacturing plans.
The position is based in Palmdale, CA, but will require some travel to Oklahoma City, OK.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or other STEM degree with 5+ years of experience; or a Master's in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or other STEM degree with 3 years of experience; OR a PhD in a STEM field with 0 years of experience.
• Familiar with composite pre-pregs, honeycombs, and adhesive materials; Fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for aircraft composite structures, familiar with metallic materials and processes
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with working on military aircraft
• Experience preparing and presenting oral and written reports
• Ability to obtain and maintain DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Salary Range: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
