Position Specific Description Our Engineering & Construction (E&C) Department is looking for a Civil/Structural Principal Engineer to join their team in Juno Beach, FL. This position is responsible for providing civil/structural technical input & best-practices guidance for business initiatives within NextEra Energy (NEE), from idea conception through project COD. Key accountabilities of a Civil/Structural subject matter expert include, but are not limited to: Provides responsive engineering support to the wind, solar, battery energy storage, hydrogen, substation, and transmission teams within E&C Maintains/promote best practices and sponsors lunch & learn sessions on civil/structural topics Participate in E&C Design & Constructability reviews and provide timely and accurate comments/feedback to ensure no schedule issues Drives resolution of critical issues during the execution phase of projects that can jeopardize project budget and/or schedule if not resolved in a timely manner Ensures that recommended course of action satisfies any third-party obligations. Works with NEE Treasury Department and lenders to ensure a level of comfort with all engaged Independent Engineers that result in preferential and timely financial closings Works with E&C Early-Stage Project Managers to define and influence project requirements and scope, including assessment of execution risk and development of risk mitigation strategies Secures engineering consulting expertise when required to supplement and/or validate professional opinions Perform new technology due diligence when requested by E&C Cost Reduction and Value Engineering Team Supports Integrated Supply Chain with equipment and material technical evaluations and review of manufacturing/fabrication NCRs. Performs annual specification reviews and incorporates lessons learned. Provides feedback related to EOR performance and annual report card. Mentors younger, less experienced E&C teammates. Travel may be necessary within North America; 10-20% of time. Preferred Experiences & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Minimum of 7 years' experience in planning, design, procurement, engineering, and construction of infrastructure projects with primary practice in the subfields of structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, construction engineering, or materials engineering. The ideal candidate must have a strong practical knowledge of the steps required to create buildable designs, excellent communication and project management skills, a bias for action, proven analytical and problem-solving skills, and an ability to generate cost-saving ideas and provide value engineering. Energy sector field construction experience, especially in wind, solar, or energy storage. Professional Engineering Licensure in at least one jurisdiction is a plus. Project Engineering and/or Project Management experience is a plus. Hydrology or coastal/marine experience is a plus. Job Overview
