Purpose of PositionThis position provides scientific and technical oversight of developments and applications regarding nondestructive evaluation (NDE) for the Timken Company and its products. This position will focus on the use of electromagnetic techniques such as Eddy Current and Barkhausen Noise Testing for product quality assurance and process monitoring to ensure finished products meet performance requirements. This position contributes to innovations regarding the application of NDE to enhance the Timken Company's technical capabilities and competencies for creation of value and strategic advantage.Responsibilities

• Develop test methods for prototype or first-time manufactured components with characteristics uncommon to standard product; work with or develop new technologies to assess Timken products nondestructively
• Provide technical expertise on issues surrounding NDE; both in the testing of products and manufacturing process capabilities
• Balance the requirements of various end users and compile into standard testing procedures acceptable meeting corporate standards as well as customer requirementsTechnical and Functional Skills
  • Nondestructive Evaluation: Exposure to nondestructive evaluation methods; particularly electromagnetic methods (Barkhausen Noise, Eddy Current, etc.)
  • Team Skills: Ability to work effectively with co-workers and as part of a larger technical team
  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and execute project responsibilities
  • Technical Background: Mechanical aptitude and experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment, as well as programmable machine controllers
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Programming Skills: Coding experience with MATLAB is preferredMinimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physics and 7 years of relevant industrial experience, or
    • Master's degree in Engineering or Physics and 5 years of relevant industrial experience, or
