Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Principal Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL .
The candidate will perform CFD analysis within a Flight Sciences team, working with related disciplines including Aerodynamics, Propulsion, Configuration Design, and others.
Basic Qualifications:
• The basic qualifications for a Principal CFD Engineer are a Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with a minimum of 5 years' experience, or a related Master's degree with 3 years of experience.
• Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher (that has a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or is under continuous evaluation).
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Program Access prior to the commencement of employment.
• Experience with creation of structured and unstructured meshes for CFD analysis of complex configurations.
• Familiarity with one or more CFD solvers such as GCNS, OVERFLOW, FUN3D
• Experience post-processing CFD solutions for downstream analysis, including integrated forces/moments, flow visualization, and inlet distortion/recovery.
• Comfort with Linux operating system.
• Scripting experience (such as Python).
• Familiarity with basic principles of aircraft design.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience setting up and managing high performance computing (HPC) clusters used for CFD analysis.
• Experience in Fortran and C++ programing in the application of maintaining, modifying, and developing CFD flow solvers and other CFD tools.
• Experience with adjoint methods for design optimization.
• Experience in performing CFD analysis on aircraft in subsonic, transonic, and supersonic flight conditions.
Salary Range: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
