As a Principal Architect at GRAIL, you'll enjoy working on a broad array of applications, clinical data, innovative technologies, infrastructure-as-a-service, and genomic-related software systems. We pride ourselves on building effective, efficient, easy-to-use, and scalable clinical-compliant software systems to address GRAIL's many computational and automation-related challenges.
Responsibilities Include:

• Designing and communicating the architecture for applications across multiple teams and systems.
• Analyzing, developing, and reviewing system architecture
• Participating in the development of the architecture guiding principles, policies, best practices, and standards.
• Driving the best technology practices for use throughout the enterprise
• Define and drive the development of pipelines, applications, security frameworks, and other technologies for use.

Your Background Should Include:

• Bachelors or Masters or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics, Data Science, AI, or similar technical field.
• At least 20+ years of industry work experience designing, developing, and maintaining disparate data-related architectures.
• Experience building large data lakes, data federation, data security, search indexes, web applications, micro-services, clinical decision support applications, and associated analytics
• Strong background and experience in dealing with genomic data and linked clinical EMR data
• Experience architecting clinical-decision support and translational research applications
• Experience working with a clinical SDLC/DHF to build and architect large-scale applications
• Experience with event streaming, caching, and asynchronous ingestion protocols, no-sql databases, and search
• Experience building both real-time and batch data processing systems.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Prior experience being a lead architect and strong leadership skills
• Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and self-direction!

• Demonstrated willingness to teach others and learn new techniques.

Bonus Points:

• Experience with AWS solutions.
• AWS certifications, especially Pro Solutions Architect and AWS Specialty certifications
• Experience with next-generation sequencing data analysis (DNA, RNA, or epigenetic analysis.)
• Excellent knowledge of general-purpose programming languages including C++, Java, Javascript, Python, Go.
