Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Antenna Products Principal Antenna Design Engineer Mechanical to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals in Redondo Beach, CA.
The selected candidate will have knowledge and experience with antenna hardware and design practices. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of RF components and assemblies, and spacecraft structures including primary/secondary structures made of metallic materials, advanced composites & Honeycomb constructions.
This individual will be knowledgeable of material strengths and properties, design criteria, loading conditions and processes (e.g. non-destructive testing, composite assemblies, etc). Experience with environmental testing requirements and experience with mechanical testing such as: structural static test, thermal cycle test, random & vibration tests to demonstrate qualification / acceptance of spacecraft structures.

Essential Functions :
- Experience and proficiency with CREO, Catia V5, NX or other 3-D cad system.
- Experience and proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience with discrepant hardware process
- Proficiency with creating and releasing drawing
- Experience with creating and developing preliminary layouts
- Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution and 5 years of engineering experience in an aerospace environment OR
- Master of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution and 3 years of engineering experience in an aerospace environment
- Knowledge of spacecraft structures including primary/secondary structure made of metallic, advance composites, and/or Honeycomb materials and construction
- Experience and proficiency with CREO, Catia V5, NX or other 3-D CAD system
- Experience with discrepant hardware process
- Proficiency with creating and releasing drawing
- Experience and proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience with environmental testing requirements and with mechanical testing
- Active In-Scope SSBI Security Clearance (SCI or Top Secret) within 5-year scope
- Masters' Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- Knowledge of MATLAB or Mathcad
- Strong leadership qualities, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with creating and developing preliminary layouts, antenna hardware and design practices
- Ability to perform trade studies
