Job Overview

Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia is currently searching for a Practice Advisor (P.Eng. or P.Geo.) to join our team in Burnaby for a 6-month contract!
The Practice Advisor is responsible for providing leadership, interpretation, subject matter expertise and guidance to Engineers and Geoscientists BC, registrants, government, members of the public and a wide variety of other stakeholders on matters related to professional and ethical practice in professional engineering and professional geoscience in British Columbia.
The Practice Advisor will have the opportunity to join a high-performing and close-knit team of professionals working within the unique landscape of professional regulation.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Providing professional practice and ethical advice to registrants, the public, provincial and municipal government, and other stakeholders.
Managing the development and revision of professional practice guidelines and practice advisories and associated contracts and budgets.
Developing and maintaining working relationships with various internal and external stakeholders including provincial and municipal governments, technical associations, and other provincial professional regulatory bodies.
Making decisions/recommendations in liaising with other regulators, as required, and providing staff support on matters of practice overlap within areas of responsibility.
Helping build EGBC's capacity to support the day-to-day practice of BC's professional engineers and professional geoscientists.
Supporting and building awareness of the professional reliance model in BC.
Building and maintaining relationships within the different industries of practice, to support good professional practice in all industries.
Providing recommendation on strategic direction for EGBC as it relates to professional practice.
Other duties as assigned by management.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
The successful applicant will possess the following:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geoscience, or similar.
Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with EGBC is required.
6+ years of industry experience (private or public) in the field of engineering or geoscience.
Knowledge and experience as a practicing professional engineer or professional geoscientist sufficient to provide accurate and credible advice to others.
Detailed involvement in technical or scientific writing and/or editing.
Detailed involvement managing engineering and/or geoscience projects.
Experience working in the natural resources sector is an asset.
Experience working in or with provincial government, municipal government, or another approving authority is an asset.
