Job Overview
Stabbert Maritime is a Seattle-based maritime company focused on providing unique maritime solutions for its customers. The Company is currently looking for a Port Engineer. The Port Engineer is responsible for effectively meeting the technical goals of the company, ensuring the vessels are technically fit to operate, preventative maintenance is attended to, critical spares are maintained and operational, and downtime is minimized.
Essential Functions:
- Develops and reviews planned maintenance programs for vessels.
- Evaluates and initiate corrective action on emergency/casualty repairs for vessels.
- Evaluates and initiate proper corrective action to eliminate additional expenses to the maintenance and repair budget.
- Monitors all engineering work-in-progress for planned and unplanned maintenance and repairs for vessels.
- Interfaces with appropriate operations personnel, advising of action to be taken such as shutting down a vessel, continuing or discontinuing its operation.
- Determines methods, lengths, and costs of necessary vessel repairs.
- Provides engineering support to the operations team.
- Trains engineers regarding vessel systems, repairs, and regulatory compliance.
- Provides help for inspection of vessels by regulatory groups. Accompanies USCG, Vanuatu, and Class surveyors for mid-period inspections, load line annual surveys, special, intermediate surveys, and other regulatory inspections.
- Coordinates and manage dry docking of vessels.
- Conducts safety meetings, generally one-on-one, with vessel engineers.
- Performs safety checks on all vessels, and initiates any necessary repairs.
- Oversees safety policies, procedures, and precautions for receiving and transferring of fuel on vessels.
- Promotes safe work practices with all company employees and vendors working on company vessels.
- Miscellaneous duties, as assigned by the Technical Services and Project Development Manager.
- Assists Human Resources with hiring vessel engineering staff.
- Must be able to understand and effectively operate the software.
- Ensure vessel engineers complete scheduled jobs assigned through NS5.
- Maintains personal proficiency in related engineering fields through formal training and reviews related technical publications on an ongoing basis.
- Ability to analyze problems via communication while a vessel is at sea or in a remote location
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum 5 years experience in the maritime industry. Must possess a valid Driver's License. A valid USCG engineer's license or Designated Duty Engineer (DDE) license is preferred. Valid US Passport.
