PORTER JOB DESCRIPTION
Essential Functions
Iowa Sports Management's Porters are responsible for the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the facility with an eye toward ensuring a safe and friendly environment. Tasks include sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming the entire facility and all parts thereof on a daily basis and more often as needed, as well as deep cleaning all of the gym equipment. The porter also handles trash and recyclable order and removal. Daily attendance is required.
Other Primary Tasks
Be alert to prevent accidents from occurring in the facility while also handling emergency cleaning and upkeep requests.
Be familiar with the set-up of the facility and maintain the position of all equipment - return the equipment to its neutral position after cleaning the surrounding areas.
Pay attention to all portions of the facility in order to keep even the smallest spots clean throughout the day.
Deep clean and stock the bathrooms and locker rooms on a daily basis and as needed.
Deep clean all gym equipment using proper cleansers, and scrub areas that need attention.
Constant communication with facility manager.
Secondary Tasks Remain thoroughly apprised and familiar with all ISM and client policies and procedures.
Carry out additional duties as assigned by the facility manager and supervisors.
Attend all staff meetings and in-service trainings as scheduled.
Be available to substitute for other staff members.
Being readily available to assist patrons in a professional manner.
Be proactive - if there is a hazard anywhere in the facility, notify facility manager and correct the situation.
Qualifications Needed Ability to be on your feet for up to 40 hours per week and lift in excess of 50 lbs.
Need to have a basic knowledge of chemicals and their uses and properties.
Available to work some weekends and holidays.
Strong attention to detail.
Self-motivated with the ability to work without constant supervision and flexible with respect to duties.
Problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
Ability to interact professionally with patrons regarding concerns, problems, or any other significant issues.
