Job Overview
Safe Harbor Rybovich is seeking both experienced Plumbers and Plumber's Helpers. These positions require all levels of understanding of shipboard plumbing and piping systems as a yacht is totally self sufficient with water supply, storage, delivery, processing, holding, and discharge. There are multiple additional fluid piping systems that require Piping Technician's oversight including but not limited to sea water, fresh water, gray water, black water, fuel oil, lube oil, compressed air, venting, drainage, air conditioning chilled water, and fire fighting. Meet each commitment not only with precision, but also delivering service with a reassuring style. Marine industry experience is desired but not required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Remove and reinstall pumps, filters, manifolds, valves.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform repairs to piping systems of various materials (PVC, copper, PEX, CuNi, stainless steel, steel, etc.) using various joining methods (solder, glue, radial crimp, flare, compression, etc.)
Clean, service, repair or replace piping systems and components.
Perform pressure tests and return system back into service.
Install high end toilets, bidets, sinks, shower heads and fixtures.
Follow all schematics and documented procedures in accordance with all Quality Control and marine classification standards that apply to the job.
Thoroughly complete all documentation associated with testing and repairs.
Hydraulic Hose & Tube Fabrication
Perform Tank Testing & Describe Closing Procedures
Maintain clean work area
Maintain integrity of yacht interiors and exterior finish
Communicate timely updates to management, co-workers, to ensure timely and successful completion of job responsibilities.
Works closely with co-workers, management and safety coordinator to ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations.
Overtime, nights and weekend work may be required as customer service needs fluctuate
Other duties as assigned by Manager
Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area.
Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately.
Technical and Physical Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Shipboard knowledge preferred
Previous experience preferred, willing to train
Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
Must carry own tools
Familiarity with boats and nomenclature
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Work in confined spaces
Maneuver in a variety of spaces
Stand, crouch & kneel for long periods of time
Visual acuity, talk and listen, push, pull, reach, grasp, and walk
