Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Plumber Steamfitter I in the Facilities department within Institutional Planning & Operations. Under the direction of the Supervisor, Maintenance and Construction, performs a variety of maintenance repairs and installation/replacement of plumbing systems and fixtures including: supply systems, DWV system, plumbing, heating and steam fixtures/equipment. Assists in the work direction of other mechanics, trades helpers and mechanics of other skilled trades. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Operates, maintains, repairs and installs, including but not limited to: pipe systems, plumbing fixtures, heating fixtures, steam fixtures, regulators valves and various system elements/appliances. Responds to plumbing trouble calls and requests within the facilities, using hand tools, power tools, analyzing equipment and testing instruments. Performs routine maintenance, preventive maintenance and inspections on plumbing systems equipment and related equipment/systems. Ancillary equipment and support systems are inclusive of, but not limited to: exchangers, regulators, coils, fluid/gas piping, strainers, operating valves and medical air/gas systems. Installs, repairs and/or maintains water, gas, oil, waste disposal and high-pressure steam and high-temperature hot water. Installs, repairs and performs preventive maintenance on the above, as well as other plumbing systems/equipment including furnaces, heat exchanges and pumping systems. Prepares, maintains and submits to the Supervisor, Maintenance and Construction requisitions for material, work orders, required records and reports relating to plumbing equipment/systems. Maintains daily time sheets and information pertaining to work performed and time spent.
