Main Responsibilities:

The main activities of the position include but are not limited to the following:

• Setup the production equipment and supplies before executing the job orders.
• Load and unload material to be processed at workstations using overhead crane or forklift.
• Operate equipment safely and effectively for production processing.
• Work under the guidance of Supervisor or Lead to perform and complete the assigned duties in timely manner.
• Operate trucks and other industrial vehicles to transfer the production material between warehouse and working area.
• Follow safety procedures and company policies for equipment operation.
• Contribute to waste management programs.
• Identify and report unsafe operations to Supervisor immediately.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area.
• Determine product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of pieces to be cut, sheared, slit or ground.
• Lift or hoist work pieces.
• Confirm work pieces have the correct specifications and tolerances
• Utilize tape measure, micrometers, and preset gauges.
• Use proper guards on all machines.
• Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Depending on production requirements and demand, it may be necessary to work either 1 st or 2 nd shift. Must be able to handle working with oils, polishing compounds and other chemical agents. Temperature in the production area can be warm in summer months. On occasion, weekend work and overtime may be required.

Education and/or Experience:

• Proven experience as a machine operator
• Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools (tape measure, micrometer etc.)
• Understanding of production procedures.
• Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
• Ability to read, schematics and manuals
• Analytical skills
• Attention to detail
• Teamwork and communication skills
• Physical stamina and strength
• High school diploma or equivalent
