Job Overview

Job Purpose:
An Industrial (NCCER) Pipe Fitter will assemble, layout, install pipe systems. The Pipe systems may include but not limited to pipe, flanges, supports, valves, gauges, hangars, and angles. Pipe Fitters may work in all parts of the construction or maintenance site including in buildings, outside, and inside structures, i.e., tanks or boilers. The work may also include working in underground (excavations) areas, Rigging and working at heights.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the following:
1. Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications.
2. Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods
3. Select pipe sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications.
4. Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
5. Attach pipes to walls, structures, and fixtures such as radiators, exchangers, or tanks, using brackets, clamps, tools, or welding equipment.
6. Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment, according to specifications, by using welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joint methods.
7. Layout or review full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment, following blueprints. Ability to provide sketches or corrections on drawings as needed.
9. Cut, thread, and install pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, and pipe threaders and benders.
10. Remove and replace worn component.
11. Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
12. Prepare, fabricate, install, and fit pipe to specifications.
13. Install valves, hangars, supports, flanges inside piping system according to specifications.
14. Perform test to ensure the quality of the pipe and the piping systems.
15. Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age.
Must have NCCER+ on Pipe
High school diploma or GED is required.
4 years' experience as an Industrial piping & fabrication
Ability to read and comprehend P&ID's.
Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card.
Must possess and maintain a valid US driver's license.
Must pass all pre-employment testing including a drug test, and background check.
Demonstrated industrial construction history experience.
Ability to read prints and construction drawings.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and manufacturers manuals and instructions.
Demonstrate knowledge on the pipe fitting processes for industrial piping.
Good problem-solving abilities.
Good aptitude and manual dexterity.
Good reading comprehension.
Ability to work with other craft
Ability to work independently - minimal supervision.
Good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.
Must be able to perform boiler maker duties if necessary
Minimum experience in rigging & bull rigging

Physical Demands:
